Measuring and improving productivity – what tools and levers can we use?

In this event, three speakers will set out some of the issues behind productivity in the UK. What is it? How do we measure it? Do we have the levers to improve it? And what should the Government, industry and others be doing to bring UK productivity levels up to that of our competitors?

After the speakers, there will be an extended Q&A discussion period. Following the event, there will be a reception.

Annie Gascoyne, Director of Economic Policy at the CBI will join the panel. It will be chaired by Lord Willetts.

Aviation 2050 – the Vision for Science and Innovation

In December 2018, the Government published a strategy for consultation on Aviation 2050: The Future of UK Aviation. Science, technology and innovation will play a major part in delivering that strategy. In this discussion event, the Aviation Minster Baroness Vere will set out the overall Aviation 2050 strategy, and the other speakers will explore views from the research and industrial communities. The event will explore where technology in aviation is now, where it’s going in the next decade and how the deliverable the Aviation 2050 strategy is.

After the speakers, there will be an extended Q&A discussion period. Following the event, there will be a reception.

  • Simon Burr, Director, Engineering & Technology, Civil Aerospace, Rolls Royce

Dr Julia Sutcliffe, Chief Technologist and Head of Engineering Strategy, BAE Systems – Air, and Martin Rolfe, Chief Executive Officer, NATS, will join the panel. It will be chaired by Lord Willetts.
