On 8 July, the Foundation for Science and Technology and the Royal Academy of Engineering organised a joint roundtable discussion to explore critical technologies. The roundtable brought together representatatives from government, industry, research funders, universities and others, to discuss the recent history of government's prioritisation of critical technologies, how the incoming government might prioritise technologies going forward, and what some of the those priorities might be.
A paper (Critical Technologies - past and future) was prepared taking both the inputs to the roundtable and the discussion itself, and was published on 7 October 2024.
